I love the sentiment of this phrase - it goes. Asking someone how they are tends to elicit an English response of “good” or “fine” or “well” (for the grammatically conscious), but in French you can answer merely that it goes, that life carries on, that things are as they should be. Saying it in English sounds drudging and weighty, as if life is going on and we are rushing to catch up. But in French, life and I go on together.
